Mansfield

B some time ago would often say that Mansfield Park does not have anything to do with Katherine Mansfield and the Garden Party.  By the way there is a historian, Katherine Park.
I first learned the name of Lord Mansfield when I read about his house destroyed by the mob in the Gordon Riots.  Or maybe I heard about him when I visited Kenwood House earlier.  In the LRB there was a review of his biography by Poser.  The reviewer, Sedley, appreciates it while he refers to the work of one of the earlier biographers as 'one of the new horrors of death'.   What a way to evaluate a biography! Those who have no reasonable fears of becoming the object of biographers do not have to worry about the possible addition of horrors.  Even so, we can assume it is a very unfavourable remark.
