routine

Writing this blog has been established as my routine task.  Once established, daily routine is hard to give up.  Once lost, it would be hard to resume, I suppose, so I cannot skip it.  To keep something stable is one of the things I do well and I dare say I would be a good weaver.  I can persevere in my effort to finish scrolls of textiles.  Or maybe not.  Professionals do their work seemingly with ease, but apparent effortlessness is a sign of great art.

My Edokomon, which I depend on, perhaps too heavily, I found was frayed at the front bottom and now is under repair at Mitsukoshi.  So, I have to choose from those other than the best.  This Omeshi, woven with gold silk thread, 「縁」, should fit somebody much taller than me.  I expected my daughter would be fairly taller and this is good for somebody 175 cm high or  taller.  The intension to save the cost of alterations backfires quite often; this is a good example.  I have considerable folds hidden behind the obi.  To be comfortable in it it should be cut short.  My mother can sew and make kimono and in fact some of mine were sewn by her, but she says that kind of alteration should be done by a professional.  I wish I could sew and make it fit for me.  I found the gold thread is a product by a sericulturist in Nagano ken.     Kimono allows numerous combinations while rigorous rules reign.  By daily, or in my case only on weekends, trial and error, one establishes several combinations that do not fail.
